Vision experts say children should have periodic eye exams. Despite that recommendation, more than 85 percent of America's 20 million children age 5 and under have never had an eye exam, according to the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Eye exams are for everyone.

One optometrist with the VSP network is Kurt K. DeVito, O.D. who describes on their web site what's needed for good eye health: an annual eye exam.  He indicates that he has in 12 years discovered four different tumors and several cases of diabetes in patients who didn’t even know they had a problem.
